Commodore’s
View From The Bridge
My time as your commodore is coming to an end I have enjoyed
the past three years as your commodore and I hope that your next commodore will have the support as I did. This
is a wonderful club. Mostly because of the great people we have in it. Being on your board of governors for the past five
years has been a very rewarding job. Some stress? But I have enjoyed every minute of it and thank you all for
your support and dedication to our club.
As you nominate your BOG for
2010 at our October meeting. I know you will choice the right people for the job and they all need your support. October is
our last busy month for the year with our final regatta for the year, also our final yard sale
for the year. Insurance is paid and we now need to start making money for next year’s insurance. So the more we have
for our yard sale the more we make. Everything and anything you have to donate please bring it to the club before the 14th of October just put a note on it that say's yard sale and we will pick it up or you
can bring it by Lynn's home or mine by calling 651-3990; one man's junk is another man's treasure.
October
start's our Early Bird renewal, get your membership in now and avoid the holiday crunch.
Attached is your renewal form.

ADVICE From The Vice Commodore:
This has been an amazing year. We have faced the challenges of an extremely busy and demanding schedule of
events and executed each event with class, timing, and precision. There are no words to describe how proud I am of each and
every one of you. It is due to your efforts that I request the honor of being your Commodore for 2010. Some of the things
that I point to with pride are the USO Regatta, the Fouled Anchor Regatta, the Intramural Sail Program, and of course the
many social activities of this club. I am really proud that these are not my accomplishments but yours. Any Captain worth
his salt knows that he is one member of the crew and it is the crew that sails the ship. We are a very unique part of the
Navy and I look forward to serving with you all. Again, thank you.

Note From The Editor
I would like to start by thanking the officials and members of NJYC for this wonderful opportunity to become an iatrical
part of the inner workings of this fine club. I promise you that I will do my very best each month to make the Docklines an
enjoyable piece of reading with plenty of good information and various items of interest that, you as members, provide me
with to include.
Once again, I thank you and enjoy this month’s newsletter. There will be much more to come in the following months.

As I write this, the month of September is almost over. The lazy hot days of summer are beginning to give way to
the cooler fresher breezes of fall. This last month was fairly quiet as everyone took a breather to just enjoy the last of
the hot weather. It seemed like every time I wanted to start something, Mother Nature put me in my place with a thunderstorm.
But no matter what the weather did, there was enough time to enjoy the sunset from the patio and toss a few yarns with my
friends. Isn’t that what it is all about?
So much for the relaxation stuff! This next month is full up with a large variety of activities. Clean
up day on October 3, Race committee meeting at 1200 on the same day. The General meeting will be held on October 7, Navy Day
Regatta on October 10, NJYC Yard sale on October 17. As the “Duke” used to say, “Back in the saddle Pilgrims!”
Another important item to be addressed is your nominations
for the 2010 Board of Governors. I would like to thank all of you who have supported me in this last year as Vice Commodore-
I can’t begin to tell you how much I am in awe of the talent and expertise of you all. It is an honor and privilege
to be a part of this amazing club.
From The Jib
It has been a great
sailing season so far and it is not over yet. Navy Day Regatta is just around the corner on October 10th.
In addition to the PHRF series race, there will be a one design course for the Flying Scots. This
year we are trying something new; there is a signup sheet at the Marina to reserve your Flying Scot for Navy Day.
In addition, the students attending the Skipper B class on that day will be encouraged to participate as crew.
Many thanks to the Race Committee and powerboat owner/operators who keep the sailing program going strong throughout
the year by volunteering their resources and services on race days.
Skipper B sailing class is in overtime thanks to increased interest
in the sport. The October class was added near the end of the training season and will likely be the last
for the year since the weather will start cooling soon and that’s when attendance usually drops off. I
am also very happy to announce that we recently added Phil Wyrick as our fourth sailing instructor; Welcome Aboard Phil!!!!
We are continually reaching out to active and reserve service members and their families as well as DOD, and anyone
else who is eligible. I would like to thank Mulberry Cove Marina for the great condition of the equipment,
the MWR Department sports coordinators for great promotion of the sport of sailing, and the dedicated membership of NJYC who
donate their time and knowledge to expose more and more people to the sailing programs.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the October
General Membership Meeting!

A woman was having a medical problem - her husband was snoring
very loudly every night! So she called the doctor one morning, and asked him if there was anything he could do to relieve
her "suffering."
"Well, there is one operation I can perform that will cure your husband"
said the doctor, "but it’s really rather expensive. It will cost you $10,000 down and payments of $1000 for 36
months, plus payments for extras of course.
"My goodness!" the woman exclaimed, "That
sounds like I'm buying a yacht!"
"Hmmm," the doctor murmured, "too obvious,
huh?"
